Spotting and Fixing Patrol Coverage Gaps

How to use Patrol Analytics to confirm patrol is actually happening, diagnose gaps in coverage, and hold your patrol vendor accountable — use it for your weekly coverage check or whenever the Last Patrol widget jumps.

The single most important thing Patrol Analytics tells you is whether patrol is actually happening. Checking coverage is a good weekly habit — filter the report to the last 7 days and glance at the calendar and patrol streak — and worth doing ad-hoc whenever the Last Patrol (Days Ago) dashboard widget jumps, when residents complain, or before renewing your patrol vendor contract.

For how to open the report, set a date range, and read each section, see Patrol Analytics – Understanding Your Community Enforcement Activity. This article assumes you're looking at the report and asking "what should I do about this?"

What to look for

  • Patrol Activity Calendar — Gray (no activity) days during periods that should have patrol coverage.

  • Patrol Performance Insights — A current patrol streak that's shorter than expected, or a long "longest gap" number.

  • Last Patrol (Days Ago) on your dashboard — Any value other than 0 on a property with daily patrol.

What to do

  1. Confirm the gap is real. A yellow day means Patrol On Hold — that's not a vendor issue, that's something you (or another manager) put in place. Check your patrol holds to be sure. See Placing and Managing Patrol Holds.

  2. Identify the pattern. Are gaps random, or do they line up with weekends, holidays, or a specific shift?

  3. Contact your patrol vendor. Share the calendar view and ask them to explain the gap. The export-to-PDF option is helpful here.

  4. Document the response. If the vendor commits to additional coverage, note the date and re-check the report a week later to confirm the gap closed.

  5. If the gap continues, escalate. Repeated coverage gaps are a contract issue. Bring the data to your quarterly vendor review or, if it's severe, to a contract renegotiation.

Common Patterns and What They Mean

Patrol streak resets every Monday

Your vendor is probably patrolling Tuesday–Sunday with a regular off-day. Confirm this matches what's in your contract, then either accept it or negotiate.

Violation count drops to zero for a week

Usually a hold you forgot about, a vendor outage, or a holiday week. Check your patrol holds first.

Important Notes

  • Patrol Analytics only shows activity recorded by your patrol vendor in ParkingPass. Off-platform enforcement (walking the lot yourself, for example) won't appear here.
