Parking Violation Severity Levels

ParkingPass uses violation severity levels to reflect how each parking rule is enforced at your property.

Parking rules and enforcement structures are configured during your property’s onboarding process. Severity levels are automatically assigned based on how many warnings are configured before enforcement action occurs.

What Violation Severity Represents

Each parking rule is categorized into one of three severity levels:

  • Light

  • Moderate

  • Severe

Enforcement actions may include:

  • Warning (Warning 1, Warning 2, Warning 3, etc.)

  • Citation

  • Boot

  • Tow

The severity level indicates how many warnings occur before an enforcement action (citation, boot, or tow) is triggered.

How Severity Levels Are Determined

Severity is calculated automatically based on the number of warnings allowed before enforcement:

Severe
Enforcement (citation, boot, or tow) occurs on the first violation with no warnings.

Moderate
One warning is issued before enforcement.

Light
Two or more warnings are issued before enforcement.

If the warning structure of a rule is modified, the severity level will update automatically.

Where to View Violation Severity

To review severity levels:

  1. Open your property in ParkingPass

  2. Navigate to Parking Rules

  3. Locate the rule

  4. View the assigned Violation Severity displayed alongside it

Important Notes

  • Violation severity is informational and system-generated.

  • Severity levels cannot be manually edited.

  • Parking rules were established during onboarding and reflect your agreed enforcement structure.

  • Modifications to parking rules must be coordinated through ParkingPass Support, as changes may impact contractual agreements with ParkingPass and your enforcement vendor.

  • Always review the full rule configuration for the most accurate enforcement details.
